Just 'Pimping' my gorgeous " Rosie " here ;-)
But, it's all true.
Went into town today. Steve's got some guy in the motor already, second fare. Guy hops out the front and gets into the back when I appear. Thus he's pretty much shut off to my hearing. Me being clinically deaf as a post in my right ear.
Did my stuff, in town. Called Steve to fetch me back here. This guy's, coincidentally, still in the back seat. No matter.
So, as we pull up at my place, Rosie and Donks are on the field. Earlier, I imagine, they'd just happened to have been down, out of sight, in the paddock.
Then I've heard the guy roaring: " Oh Jesus! Look At That!!! That's fucking Beautiful! And will ye Look At the Back on it! Christ! What Condition!!! "
Even as I'm quietly murmuring that yes, that's my Rosie. My pride and joy, the guy's just fucking beside himself. He even got excited over the condition of Donks.
Steve ~ who seriously knows his horse shit ~ was in agreeance.
Me? I was all warm and cuddly. Just absorbing, and deeply appreciating, the Respect being bestowed upon my beloved Rosie by guys who've probably forgotten more about horses than I'll ever live to fucking learn.
I knew they'd both be watching her. And, yeah; My heart filled with love and pride.
Rosie looks the business, Ditch. What breed is she? Shire mebbe? A spotted donkey? Never seen one 'o them before - are they indigenous to Ireland? They do look in excellent nick tho'. Just loaded a mare & stallion that had been confiscated by the SPCA. Poor buggers were in god-awful state when they arrived. Look OK now. The stallion was nearly unapprochable when he arrived but with gentle handling he's good now. Don't like women tho'!
ReplyDeleteRosie's a Cob, Llew. Sort of small 'Shire' type, I guess? Only, she's of the type variously known as " Gypsy / Irish " Cob or " Vanner ". That's to say, her type were originally bred to pull a Gypsy Wagon.
ReplyDeleteI point that out because some horses which no one has a problem with accepting as a " Cob " look more like Hunters, to me.
Spotted Donkeys? Funnily enough, the bloke I bought Rosie from had a small herd of donkeys so like my Donks that I'd have lost him if he got amongst them.
I shouldn't imagine there's anything unique to Eire about them. Though, saying that, I don't particularly remember seeing any in england. I'm sure there were though. There's enough exchange. Rosie was bred over there.
You're righjt there mate. Found a website in USA 'Diamond B Ranch' - they breed 'em & it's supposed to be the biggest breeder of them in the states. That's their opinion anyway. They look pretty good - much prettier than our grey jobs - all dick 'n ears! ;o)
ReplyDeleteHey Ditch,
ReplyDeleteHave a look at this on youtube. Bloody brilliant!

That's them alright, mate. They call them that, in the states. Pity there's no moving footage on that. To see Rosie galloping by ..... my chest nearly explodes, every time :-)
