Quick word about comments ...
Comments here are 'moderated'. In as much that I have to physically see them and wave them through once you hit Send.
So, if ye write a Comment. Post it. Don't see it? No worries. It's just sitting there, waiting for me to come online and find it in my email. I click and your words appear here.
Please don't post it several times. Get frustrated and storm off, never to be seen again. It's just a measure I was forced to put into place by doxxers, spammers and other, mentally unstable's.

An Imperfect Past .....
Just sit and study this picture for a bit. I only wish I could've brought ye a bigger copy. Something ye could see more detail in. For now though, it'll have to do.
Just something to keep the ball in the air. I'll come back and tell ye more about all this when I have time to. Right now I'm a bit busy, spinning plates.
OK. Back .....
Yes, so; That's actually one of my favourite pieces by Jack Vettriano. A contemporary artist. This guy is So fucking cool!
I happened across this guys breath taking work about five years ago. God knows how. Power of the internet and late nights fucking about on Google. I was deeply in touch with a stunningly gorgeous girl at the time. Christina, her name was. I don't even remember how we connected ~ on line ~ but we hit it off big time and discussed all sorts.
Chris was married to a ranking military man and they owned a cottage and sizeable spread in Scotland. And we shared a love of the 'Darker Side' of what we were finding of the, then pretty much new on the scene, Vettriano. Spent hours telling each other what we figured each of his amazing works represented. Debated. Analysed. Conjectured.
God, we had some great chats. Lovely. Intelligent. It really was one of the greater privileges of my life to have 'known' you, Chris. Where ever in the world ye are now. Thanks for some great conversations.
And I thank her too for the book she sent me: " Lovers And Other Strangers ". By Anthony Quinn. It's a sumptuous volume of what turned us both on most about Vettriano's 'earlier' work. I have it beside me now. Chris bought me it when she visited an exhibition of his original works, in Scotland.
Believe it or not, see; Jack Vettriano is Scottish, by birth and blood! It explains, in the book, why he changed his surname ~ or his father did? One or the other. But, never mind all that. Just Look at some of his work! Hell! Buy the bloody book! Look how cheap it is these days! I promise ye; If that image above provokes ye? This guy's The Kiddie!
I'd suggest there are three threads to Vettriano's work. 1/ The ~ is it ~ 30's era? Maybe later? But the guys all look like they belong in the Elliot Ness / Al Capone era. 2/ Beaches and umbrellas have some resonance with this guy. Don't know why. But, it's the 3/ aspect that gets me. And had Chris' and I discussing and debating, often deep into the night.
There's an almost Threatening eroticism to so much of his 'other' work! It's fucking magnetic! Now; Look again at that picture above. Analyse it. What do You think's going on there? (Doesn't the title give us a clue?) People 'Let Down'. That transitional phase where it all gets dragged out. Exposed. And so can fall apart. The hour in which it's all over.
Vettriano is a fucking Genius in this mode. He somehow evokes ..... I dunno. I'm not an art critic and I'm not inside Your psyche.
The above is one of my 'Top Five' works by this astounding man. I picked that from the first line on Google. But, if ye want to see more of how so many of his pictures 'tell' (Hint at?) a story? Another that leaves me just gazing is " A Letter of Consequence " I mean; For Fuck Sake!!!
Just check this guy out!
