Quick word about comments ...
Comments here are 'moderated'. In as much that I have to physically see them and wave them through once you hit Send.
So, if ye write a Comment. Post it. Don't see it? No worries. It's just sitting there, waiting for me to come online and find it in my email. I click and your words appear here.
Please don't post it several times. Get frustrated and storm off, never to be seen again. It's just a measure I was forced to put into place by doxxers, spammers and other, mentally unstable's.

Any Old Iron .....
It was just before feeding time, so the Dogs were already bouncing and shouting. But, then I half consciously noticed a subtle change in their tone. Something was happening. Or about to.
Glancing out the window, I peered a hundred and thirty yards toward the top gate. Straining to listen for anything was a bit pointless ~ I'm deaf as a fucking post. But, I spotted a blackbird as it flew into a tree up there.
The jerking of its body told me what it was telling the rest of the world; " Someone's on the track! Coming this way! ". Good work. The creatures hadn't let me down. I watched and waited.
Moments later a bright red tractor came round the corner. Not one of Pat's. Not Noel's either. So, it could only be Yankie. I'll be blowed! He'd actually turned up, at last .....
Five minutes later, Yankie, a young lad he'd brought with him, and myself were busy stacking sheet upon sheet of corrugated iron onto the trailer he'd towed here. I was finally getting rid of the huge stacks left by the collapse of my Dutch Barn, some two years back now.
They're coming back, tomorrow, apparently. Pick up a big old piece of antiquated farm machinery of god alone knows what original purpose. All grist to the mill. That and what ever other sheets and lumps of old metal are still out there.
I hope they're even half as good as english Gypsys. I don't want them missing anything. It'll only be left for me to throw in a skip, one day in the future. God knows, I have enough to find a skip for as it is. And they took away a skip full tonight already!
Weird business. Giving away scrap metal. I used to support myself by collecting it. But, those were the days when one was never much more than a mile between scrap yards. I could pile my hand cart and flog the mornings haul before adjourning to the pub.
Now. Here? I wouldn't know where there is a scrap yard. Certainly no where that I can shift a skip load and more of old iron to. So I've had to all but beg Yankie to come and take the shit away for me. Strange turn around.
Oh well. That'll be the ground behind the cow shed cleared now. Next, I'll strip away all the rough vegetation that's grown up there. That'll encourage me to build and fit a new set of doors at the back there ~ next summer.
Wonder what I'll do with that ground? Haven't really considered it yet. Something to day dream about, as winter approaches and I prepare to batten down once more.
